Douglas A-26b Invader "on mark"

This Invader is one of 69 aircrafts of this type to have undergone a series of partial improvements by On Mark Engineering.
Today it is one of only two Douglas A-26B Invaders with “On Mark” conversion flying in the world and the only one with large engines and propellers.

A LIGHTNING IN THE SKY

There is absolutely nothing like racing through the sky in this silver bird. Once you’ve flown in her, you’ll never want to sit in anything else again. Almost 5,000 HP, 450 km/h fast in cruise and 4h range, extravagant and comfortable, an aircraft with an extraordinary history. Over 29,000 hrs of work have gone into this masterpiece of engineering.

We brought the Douglas A-26B Invaderfrom Greece to Germany in 2019… and we’re not finished yet.

This former WW II Bomber received full attention, it was modified in the 50ties into one of the 1st “Business Jets” with the very comfortable 6-seat cabin, lying-chairs and toilet by ONMARK. They were that time the “Masters” on A-26 Invaders, this plane was modified with the mentioned Cabin, K-Tail with boosted Rudder and Vortex Generators, Douglas DC-6 Wheels and Brakes and a very unique 2-stroke Aux-Power engine within the l/h nacelle.

The Fuselage and Nacelles got paint stripped and polished, the complete main wing repainted in flat gray. The interior ended up with cherry wood, Alcantara roof and nice original leather on bench and seats. The co*ckpit has been restored too with new panel, instruments, and radios. Instead of the original toilet, we installed a fridge and a whiskey bar.

Technical we replaced the 83 Pratt & Whitney for the better and higher powered CB-3 Version, overhauled by Anderson Aeromotive. New electrical wiring as necessary, new fabric, new aileron cables (both sides), new overhauled r/h oil cooler, new and overhauled piping both sides. Main spar inspection just got completed with a complete overhaul of both engine compartments.

HISTORY

Our Douglas A-26B Invader was built in 1945 with serial number 28048 and delivered to the USAAF. After World War II, the aircraft was released for sale. We have logbooks for the aircraft that go back to 1952.

The first owner is believed to be “Superior Oil Co Inc” of Lafa-yette, LA from 1950 to 1954, the registration at that time is N67162.

Later “Fletcher Oil & Gas” took over the aircraft with the new registration N500M.

Several owners followed until 1970, most notably Lloyd A. Hamilton in 1971, who competed with our Invader in the California 1000 Air Race at Mojave, an endurance race consisting of 41 laps on a 15.1 mile circuit.

Hamilton finished 6th at 294.06 mph, beating three North American P-51D Mustangs, two Grumman F8F Bearcat, a Vought F4U Corsair and a Lockheed P 38 Lightning!

In the 70s, our Invader flew with civil registration N29711. In 1981 there was again a new registration, this time the N500MR, owner was George J. Rivera from San Jose, CA.

He was followed in 1990 by William M. Farrell of Cincinatti, who owned the aircraft for 2 years. Farrell christened the now camouflaged bomber “Gator Invader” with the serial 43-4769.

Phil Brown/T-34 Inc, Seattle, WA, 19 June 1995-1997

From 1995 the Invader was based in Greece, home base was Tangara AB.

We were able to purchase the Invader 2019 directly in Greece.

Of course, several test flights were necessary and after everything was in perfect order, we were able to transfer this unique aircraft to us in Bremgarten EDTG in February 2019.
